FOTO 1 in Charleston recently sponsored a "Drive By" photography contest for Kanawha County residents. Participants each took a disposable camera and had to abide by the contest's one simple rule: All photos had to be taken from the contestant's car or not more than 5 feet from the vehicle.

Contest organizer Clayton Spangler, digital lab manager for Foto 1, said he was surprised by the creativity shown by the photographers. First place went to Dan McDavid of St. Albans (his photo, "Red Sky at Night, Sailors Delight" was featured last week in The Charleston Gazette). Other winners are:
