Summary


LAMPWORKED glass involves the manipulation of glass rods or tubes over an open flame. Ginny Ruffner has elevated to high art a technique normally used to create souvenirs and entertain tourists.

"Ginny Ruffner's glass sculptures look like botched genetic experiments, orchestrated by mad scientists who have taken refuge in a paint factory," wrote Huntington Museum of Art librarian Chris Hatten in the museum's "Through American Eyes" book.
