Not long after Parkersburg Catholic's Mary Ostrowski began her freshman season in the fall of 1976, the Crusaderettes suffered a defeat.

From there, they began a record-breaking 88-game winning streak, which was the longest in state high school basketball history until the Summers County girls won their 89th in a row last week. After that loss in Ostrowski's freshman season, Parkersburg Catholic didn't lose again until her senior season.
