Senior guard James Spencer scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead eighth-seeded Mountain State University past No. 13 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) 72-51 Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NAIA Division I men's national tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

Mountain State (33-2) advances to its first national semifinal since 2004, when the Cougars won the national title. Mountain State will play the winner of the game between No. 1 Georgetown (Ky.) and No. 8 Robert Morris (Ill.) at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
