Tree-lined city streets are a real draw - the trees provide shade and beauty and soften the urban angles. If those trees are on city property, they often have their own set of laws to protect them and to ensure their health and growth.

In Charleston, there's a Municipal Tree Board, according to Chapter 50, Article V of the Municipal Code. It's made up of the members of the Municipal Beautification Commission, a 12-member panel that oversees all things green in our fair city.
