PRINCETON - A former Mercer County schoolteacher has been convicted of 38 felony sex charges involving three former students.
The Mercer County Circuit Court jury deliberated for four hours on Friday before finding Timothy Colbird, 50, of Lashmeet, guilty of sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexual abuse by a custodian. Colbird was found not guilty of 13 other counts and three counts were dismissed on Thursday by Circuit Judge John R. Frazier. Colbird, a former teacher at Spanishburg Middle School, was silent as the verdicts were read. Frazier said he would look into arranging isolation for Colbird at the regional jail after defense attorney Randolph McGraw told the judge that Colbird had requested extra security.See the full content of this document
