Book Prompts Conversation Worth Having

Summary


Unlike most books on economic theory, Unleashing Capitalism, edited by Russ Sobel, is easy to read. At a two-hour lecture, Sobel presented some points that I believe are worth considering. I encourage my colleagues and others to at least expose themselves to his ideas and arguments.

Chapter four deals with West Virginia's history of the labor struggle in the coalfields. I understand theoretically the economic points which are put forth; however, the analysis does not square with what I know of that conflict either from personal experience, family stories or my own reading. I did not find that chapter convincing.
